Taking the City job was a risk to OGS's growing reputation for a number of reasons.
Leaving after getting relegated won't do him any good, but staying on and rebuilding what should be (have been) a competent PL side will earn him lots of career brownie points. He has everything he needs at City and I don't think his appointment was ever viewed as a quick fix, by either the club or OGS.

I couldn't see him going after bringing his favoured personnel (on and off the pitch) with him. He's here for a few years
