I'll start with evidence -
https://twitter.com/viewfromthenin/status/422162381431504896

In that picture, you have campbell being handled in midair and Caulker nearly losing the shirt off his back entirely, all in one piece of play. and yet neither was spotted by Lee Mason. There's more, much more.

Take to twitter and you will see Leeds fans, Middlesborough fans, Chelsea fans, even Seansea fans declaring Lee Mason as completely incompetent.

I'm not falling for the 'referees have a tough job' crap either. If you or I got summoned to the managers office for having a really bad day, do you think we would get away with it 'because it's a hard job'? Referees don't even get summoned, they are allowed to do what they please, but woe betide any manager dare critiscise them.

If you never say anything, nothing ever changes. We need to stand up and say we aren't happy and we don't want Lee Mason in charge of our matches anymore.

The problem is that players are far too prone to falling over for no particular reason, other than to con the ref. There is always shirt pulling on both sides, so refs tend to let the majority of it pass.

The only way of stopping this is to make shirt pulling a mandatory booking. It's easy enough to spot and there is absolutely no footballing reason why one player should grab another's shirt.........so book every one that's seen and things might change.

There's many ways to help things - the glaringly obvious one is use technology. Surely having someone sat behind a television feed that is able to call out things the referee may of missed or offer a second insight can only be a good thing? I pointed out one of the problems on MOTD to the missus. In real time I said 'did you see that?', she said no so I rewinded ten seconds and pointed it out. That took about five seconds, so why can't it be used in a real game? It takes the players a minimum of 30 seconds to get up now so it wouldn't hold anything up.

The use of technology would allow referees to be tougher on divers, while also handing out fouls properly when one is due.

Referees are only human, and they make mistakes. Even if we assume they make a mistake on 20% of incidents - Lee Mason was nowhere near to that figure.

We need to start being harsh on referees that have bad games. They need to start being punished for not doing their job properly, and then they will strait complaining to the FA that they need help to do their job. It's the only way it will get better.

getting pissed off with this for it is the second time in 24 hours that i am going to agree with red, but having said that also think tda has a point.

the other thing that stuck in my craw was the time wasting by west ham and all that was added-on was four minutes. i have seen dave marshall and others booked for less. we may not have saved the game, but if there was a degree of consistency with regard to time added-on then surely sunderland would not have been given five minutes

Mason & his assistant at the Canton end were appalling. His assistant was looking straight at Hudson having his shirt pulled to stop him going for a header at goal but said nothing.
The time wasting was constant and Mason kept pointing at his watch yet we had a minute less than Sunderland when there was no time wasting at all. He was shocking.

Im guessing you were never on CCMB? Its a joke from a while back on there.

I thought this line would have given it away

'You'd have thought in 2014 that people would have moved on and matured but evidently not.'

I guess maybe not everyone has been on there.  :face plant:

I've deleted it now. Was dumb for me to assume others might see an inboard joke for some on here and understand it or know it was from there. My bad. I should have known better.

I came from AAMB, I only see CCMB when people link me to it from here.

My own fault anyway Red. I should have expected that the members here would come from all different parts of the internet.

On the topic of referees - The Newcastle Man City game just had one of the worst decisions I've ever seen. Tiote's equaliser ruled out because the referee decided Gouffran (who was a mile off side but jumped out the way of the shot) had distracted Joe Hart. The referee asked the linesman and the linesman said Gouffran had done nothing wrong. The referee ignored him and disallowed the goal anyway.

Stuck up snobs that think they are bigger than the game. It needs addressing.

Agreed. Referees influencing games to get themselves in the papers and give themselves a bit of self importance.

How did we only get 4 minutes of added on time ? I thought it was supposed to be 30 seconds per substitution and 30 seconds per card, that's 6 minutes before we start on time wasting. Not that it mattered in the end.
