Exactly as I said earlier, he's similar to Whitts in the way he plays, but is potentially better

Surely can only help the Squad having competition for places

Agree competition is essential but I just wonder what Ole thinks of him though. The strength we have in midfield players like Whitts are going to find it difficult to get in the team.

i agree with much of what has been said, indeed once eikrem has established himself it may well be that all we will see of whitts is on a subs bench.

Whitts might surprise us, he's been irreplaceable for so long (it took Malky three quarters of a season to drop him), that I think he has no standard to mark himself against. With a young talent favoured by the manager sat on the bench behind him, he's going to have to pull his finger out. It's in his hands.

It may well be that what OGS has in mind will suit Whitts and, if he is more relaxed about his role, then I'm sure we will benefit.
The midfield generally needs players who can hold on to or distribute the ball under pressure. Having players of a similar quality around him can only help Whitts.

Totally agree. I don't think Mackay ever got the best out of Whittingham. It will be interesting to see OGS's approach. Whittingham at his best would surely be his type of player.

The type of player Whitts is, he runs on confidence. And to play at his best he needs other players around him that are technically capable and can create space for him

Interestingly, none of the WO "pundits" put Whitts in their XI v West Ham...

The fans poll went the same way.
For the lazy amongst us, the fans poll came up with this formation -
Marshall
KTC,Caulker,Hudson,John
Eikrem,Medel,Mutch
Noone,Campbell,Kim
Not bad...
