Could the imminent signing of Magnus Wolff Eikrem spell danger for Whitts? It appears Eikrem is a central midfielder who likes playing key passes and taking set pieces, which sounds a lot like Whitts...does this mean OGS has been less than enamoured with what he has seen and heard of him this season and his replacement has arrived?

The way I see it, Whitts will have the game against West Ham to prove he is still good enough to take a first team spot. As I said his performances haven't been good enough to take a central spot off of Medel, Kim or Mutch, and the only thing keeping him in the squad is he is one of our only players capable of playing left wing. If Ince or Zaha shows up, Whitts loses his place in a flash - if both show up, he's not even going to find the bench. Add to that Eikrem showing up, who favours a central role and plays a similar game to Whitts, and If I was him I might be eyeing a January move...

whitts gives the impression of a lack of effort and commitment, that could be his undoing

I've always presumed villa would come knocking, they wanted him back when we were in the championship. People are critiscising Villa for not being able to link their play up properly - Whitts could help.

Whitts is 29, Wolffy is 23.
It could simply be planning for the future? Even if Whitts isn't automatic first choice, he'd still have things he could teach Wolffy.

According to the managerial elite, an outfield player reaches his mental peak at 25. That's considered where they have typically grasped as much of the game as they are going to get.
Changing leagues can confuse players so he might need to adjust, but has Whitts really adjusted to the premier league either?
