Went to the Tindersticks concert at The Barbican Hall last night; what a great venue and the Tindersticks were pretty laid back too.
Prior to the gig we went to the "Red Cow" near Barbican Station. I had a pint of "Dirty 69 IPA"; if they do a "Dark Beer" it must have it's own event horizon! My friend who bought the first round informed me through gritted teeth that it was £6.60 a pint!! The Barbican; Tindersticks and the £6.60 Pint! 2854552383 Having been drawn to the right hand side of the beers on tap notice board for specific gravity information (The Dirty 69 was 6.9%) I then noticed that the prices were on the left. There was an IPA of 7.5% that was £7.50 a pint. The Barbican; Tindersticks and the £6.60 Pint! 692773407
With Studios selling for £755,000, not much evidence of a recession in the City of London!

Beer is about the relative same price as Cardiff, I'd say, but generally served in halves. I've gotten quite used to that too as it stops you getting inadvertently shitfaced (and I rarely get drunk deliberately these days The Barbican; Tindersticks and the £6.60 Pint! 4228682415). As Dave has pointed out though, wine on the whole is much cheaper and on average better quality.

You'd have to check with TDA on the price of brandy... The Barbican; Tindersticks and the £6.60 Pint! 692773407

Beer (draft or bottled) in a bar is typically 2,50€ - 2,80€ for 25cl, which equates to £5.70 - £6.40 per pint. Unless you drink the p*ss-poor Frech Stella (different animal to what you get in the UK), the strength of beer is going to be 5.5% - 6.5%........see the correlation?

However, you can buy the same bottled beer at the local supermarket at 8,00€ for a case of 12 x 25cl........which is about 1,50€ a pint.....beer

£12.........drinking that stuff, no wonder you're a grumpy bugger!

Just ordered 18 bottles of gold medal Côtes du Rhône at 3,99€ a bottle.....half usual price in France and also seen it for £7.95 a bottle in the UK.  As Arkay says, that's where we win living out here.
