Rudy the businessman has been displayed as very intelligent the past few months courtesy of the amount of work put into his energy drink. It turns out though, he may well be a few windows short of a green house.
Yesterday afternoon, a twitter account claiming to represent Alwasl club of the UAE, sent him this tweet -
@Mrhareb: @RudyGestede pls add me as I need to speak to ur to u directly or ur agent. I represent Alwasl Club in UAE.
Stupid right? What sort of football club makes initial contact via twitter?
Well, genuine or not, Rudy responded -
@RudyGestede: @Mrhareb just add you
Three words, but three words that have been retweeted and spread around many Cardiff City fan accounts. Many, many people are very angry at him, and are demanding the club discipline him.
My opinion on this -
1. Rudy was unbelievably stupid in replying, he must of knew the fans would see it. He should of instead had his agent contact the club discretely. The club should definetely have a word with him.
2. I think the fans are overreacting just a little. If a player is offered an opportunity, he's entitled to listen to it. It doesn't mean he's unloyal, not does it mean he's going to take the offer.

don't expect rudy can see any light at the end of the tunnel and to be honest neither can i for him. maybe he was a little unwise to fall for a twitter scam, but at least it is in the open for all to see that he wants out so let him go. hate to loose him as there are worse than him in the squad. what he did is no hanging offence

What's twitter?
Seriously, why twitter?
Footballers and twitter don't go well together. I might even say people and twitter don't go well together. The restricted format leaves so much open to interpretation, and the public nature of it leaves people so much open to abuse.
Rudy was naive, no doubt, although he didn't actually say he was open to offers.
I can't say I've seen any evidence that many many people are angry with him. Maybe because I don't use twitter....seems another good reason not to use it imo!

Is this even a problem? As far as I'm concerned he can follow who he wants when he wants - he's not answerable to us.
I'll take my tea with two lumps of storm please.

Well, replace Gestede with say, Gareth Bale. If Gareth bale did what Rudy did the newspapers would have a field trip.
I think it's important that the club makes sure it's players know how to behave in a public forum. He may be a small time star in a very big league, but it still could attract negative attention.

Very naïve of Gestede.
What serious club/agent would do business via Twitter FFS?!
