So there it is, Hull City AFC will officially be called the Hull City Tigers this season. I can only imagine the scale of uproar amongst the Hull fans.

Lots of uproaring if they're tigers, I imagine.
Bad news for them - not least because if they're losing games frequently in the PL, they'll probably get dubbed the Hull City Pussycats by opposition fans.
I felt similar distaste when the cricket counties started appending 'marketable' labels onto their names for the one-day tournaments some years ago. I still find it distasteful, and it certainly contributes to my lack of enthusiasm for domestic one-day cricket.

Yes Dono is right, if Tan hadn't already said that there will be no name change then I would be very worried indeed about becoming the Cardiff Dragons.
But, alas, we can all relax, tan seems to be a man of his word.

The real disappointment in this news, though, is that it means Hull will no longer be the only league club in which you can't colour in any of its letters.

The cricket nicknames seem to have been made up on a whim. The Tonker wrote:Lots of uproaring if they're tigers, I imagine.

e.g. Lancashire Lightning or Essex Eagles.
Shouldn't they be the Red Roses and the White Stilettos?

I can only assume that the media is lying to us and that none of this is actually happening as i was assured by many on the other board that our fans were the only ones would be so weak and apathetic to let such a rebrand occur.
If true then i await the furious backlash that will make the Hull owners ( sorry Hull Tigers owners) change their mind.

Lancashire should indeed be the Red Roses, but I guess they thought this wasn't gladiatorially macho enough, so in many cases they've gone for the alliterative effect - although I think Lightning is just embarassing. Essex Eagles isn't too bad, although something like Somerset Sabres is cringy, and Northants Steelbacks just seems weird.G-ster wrote:The cricket nicknames seem to have been made up on a whim. The Tonker wrote:Lots of uproaring if they're tigers, I imagine.

Yes, Silverbacks would've been much more appropriate - seen many a knuckle dragger in that areaThe Tonker wrote:Lancashire should indeed be the Red Roses, but I guess they thought this wasn't gladiatorially macho enough, so in many cases they've gone for the alliterative effect - although I think Lightning is just embarassing.
