My daughter's boyfriend lives down that way, I believe he's going.
My daughter went to the Download festival at Donington last week, and had a great time - the highlight being catching one of the drumsticks thrown into the audience by the final act, Rammstein (who were, so I understand, amazing).

for tristan and kate to use daddy's credit card for a summer jolly these days isn't it?
i went down there to work after it had finished in 2005, was staggered at what i saw, about 50,000 tents that had just been left behind, discarded clearly by idiots with too much money or idiots who don't know the real value of stuff. either way if that's the calibre of the people who go now, i don't want to party with them

The only time I've done a non-rock and metal festival was when I did Leeds in 2010. We chose Leeds that year a) because Guns n Roses and Blink 182 were headlining and the line up had a lot more of a rock feel to it than previous years & b) we thought a northern crowd would be less pretentious and snobby than a southern one.
I have no idea what Reading's like (I presume it's similar, only a bit worse), but Leeds was full of snobby 'gap yah' students with more of Mummy and Daddy's money than sense. The guys next to us set their tent on fire on the last day and our stuff nearly went up with it; surprising how quick 5 idiots can find a few buckets of water when confronted by some heavy Valleys boys with even heavier accents. (I was 5 stone heavier back then might I add, for any of the 5-a-side boys who had the opportunity to admire my suave figure).
Moral of the story is; f**k any festival that doesn't blare out thrashing guitar riffs and epic solos all day and night.

They used to treat that with mercury, but I understand that penicillin is more usual these days.......davewebber65 wrote:glad i stayed with sibelius

I suppose you're right...and every Cardiff fan is a hooligan too i suppose.
I had the best week of my life with my very best friends, all of whom are very decent (if a little off the wall) people. Oh and I took my tent home too, even though it's s**t and and I hate it.
