I still think it should have been Gunns. Followed by Kiss.

Hard to justify not giving it to Marshall. Hudson was poor in the starting games, and (through no fault of his own) missed most of the final quarter of the season. Marshall played every game, and was amazing throughout.

On balance though, Marshall wouldn't have had as good a season if it wasn't for the defence, particularly Hudson.

Evidence for this? Look at poor old Heaton, we all know how good he is and has ability to match that of Marshall, but his back four have let him down.

As good as the defence has been, the case for Marshall's good season is not based on what he didn't have to do. He was awesome between the sticks at times, he pulled off some incredible saves that kept us in or kept us ahead in so many games. His command of the area has improved no end, and he has been very instrumental in marshalling the defence as well, especially in Hudson's absence.

He was favoured over Heaton for all the league games last season, and has improved since then. There's no way Heaton's ability matches his. I'm backing Marshall for player of the year.

Oh......

Marshall saves were worth 15-20 goals to the team this year, but we are fortunate to have several players who have been outstanding....... :cup:
