Wigan Athletic were given a 31,000 seating allocation for the FA cup semi final. How have they responded? By selling less than 10,000, forcing the FA to consider selling 6000 to 'neutral' fans. The very best scenario is courtesy of Wigan, Wembley will have 16,000 empty seats.

I know it's common to laugh at Wigans following, but this is genuinely emberassing.

A very good reason why the semis should be played at neutral venues to suit both sets of travelling fans.......

Also a very good reason why the FA should reconsider their pricing policy. Just because the venue is Wembley shouldn't dictate the price of tickets. Wherever you view from at that stadium, with the price of tickets, travel and food etc. it makes for an expensive day out and in the current economic climate we all have to prioritise our spending. Good on those Wigan fans who have got their priorities right and will keep their money to spend at the JB to support the fight for Premiership survival.

To be fair, there are no trains running back to Wigan on that day, so that will put a lot off. Also, they are banking on reaching the final which will cost about £150 for the day alone.

If they were to lose to Millwall however, the fans who stayed away may live to regret the fact they missed seeing their side play at Wembley for the last time in a while.

I'm going to have to challenge this - why do you think this is "Embarrassing"?
The growth in Wigan's fan base over the years has been quite exceptional given where they have come from as a football club, (I can remember them as a non-league club), the competition they have faced from Wigan Rugby League Club, and the competition they have faced from the massive football clubs they have had operating on their door steps.
Or is your comment aimed at the FA for having the Semi Finals at Wembley and charging ticket prices accordingly?
Also, it's a long old drag from Wigan to Wembley; a distinct advantage for London based fans who do not have to meet these costs both in terms of money and time.
