Really? I thought it was quite interesting. Naturally "The Blue Tendency" are in meltdown on the CCMB and some have seen it as the green light that protest might drive Tan out.

I gotta say lads thats more than a little worrying for me!
I was willing to say "oh well if he's gonna put his money in he deserves some say" but it's taking the piss a bit now. The changes themself are bad enough but his attitude towards the clubs supporters is what annoys me the most!

"if 20-25% dont like it then dont come!!"

FFS what's all that about!

The fact is that what i've always loved about british football is long gone!
I loved the fact that it has always been the common mans game and people were incredibly passionate about their club and the game. now it has become nothing more than corporate bollocks, and that is a great great shame.

I've been lucky enough to witness some of the biggest derby's in europe and i promise you lads football in this country is no longer the same

The Premiership is now the international Football League and that's where we are heading (fingers crossed). Unfortunately, Cardiff City were always ripe to end up like this; a long recent history of under achievement in Wales Capital City with an untapped significant customer base. We now have a waiting list for season tickets - have we ever had a waiting list in our history?
Even now our local fan base and ticket pricing is insufficient for the Championship, let alone the Premiership and given the financial state we were in before Tan chipped in we were close to returning to "Dungeon Football" if we were lucky!!
Unfortunately for us Tan isn't like the benefactors at Chelsea and Manchester City. He does not want to endlessly pour money into the club, he wants to take a more business like approach and yes, that may be just to sell the club to make return on his investment. The change of shirt colour and possibly a change of name might be part of that strategy, but, if what comes out at the end of this is a stable football club based in Cardiff, either in the Premiership or able to be sustainable in the Championship then so be it.
The Premiership is a vast money making machine now and the Championship is effectively becoming the 2nd Tier of the Premiership. The idea of Premiership games being played abroad has already been floated; I have no doubt that the Premiership Money Men have a long term strategy to implement this and other more radical plans to maintain the ludicrous growth in income that the Premiership have enjoyed since it's inception.
Competitive football was effectively killed off when 1st Division Football Clubs were allowed to keep all their home gate receipts rather than sharing them with the opposition and that was when "What you loved about British Football" started to die. It's been a long process, but the game is unrecognisable compared to what it looked like then.
I once thought "Wouldn't it be good if the G7 Clubs f**ked off and formed a European League - the rest of us could then get on with The Football League."
Even that opportunity has gone; I think the Premiership are now planning for bigger things not just in Europe.

So...................as a Cardiff City supporter the choice is to go along for the ride or choose a point to get off the bus.

"if 20-25% dont like it then dont come!!"

FFS what's all that about!

We are a loss making fan base; even with a full house we don't pay enough to sustain the club in it's present form. I think this is just a reminder of that and replacements will be found with growing success.

Manchester United had a huge price rise in season tickets a few seasons back; 13,000 (ish) season ticket holders, mainly local people had to give them up. Notice any gaps the following season?

As you say, football is not like it used to be!

I don't like the use of the expression 'Bluebirds brand'.
Changing the colour to red was one thing, but Cardiff 'Dragons' would be a step too far.

That would makes us the third Cardiff Dragons brand... the failed 80s rugby league team the Cardiff 'Blue' Dragons and the current Cardiff Dragons football team which appear to be a tight knit team

This is troubling.

A name change is a little different from a colour change. I'm not sure how I feel about this to be honest, gonna have to stew on it for a while.

It's down to one of two things.

1) the team retains the Cardiff City moniker, plays in blue, is on the verge of financial meltdown every year, fails to attract investment that does anything other than postpone administration for a brief period of time, and, most likely, goes out of business and is required to start again, in the same manner as AFC Wimbledon, at the very bottom of the football league and unlikely to achieve any form of significant success within the next 20 years other than good cup runs as the plucky underdog

2) accept that we have changed colour and that the name is different (whilst still retaining Cardiff in the title), welcome the colossal investment, international exposure (and benefits this brings to the city as a result...see the city of Swansea's financial windfall since entering the prem), excellent facilities and high expectations met by high level backing

Though I could always sense news like this coming, it really is shocking. Some of his quotes from the interview have blown me away. He claims that as long as 75-80% of fans are happy, then it's not a problem. He also claims that the only ones protesting are the younger fans.

Lazy journalism mind. I've never ruled out dressing up as a clown and moonwalking down the M4 either, doesn't mean im actually going to do it.

We'll just have to see what happens, but i will admit I'd find it difficult to put up with the embarrassment becoming the 'Cardiff Dragons' would deliver. I'd DEFINETELY take an active part in protesting, whether I'd still be able to show up for the team I'm not sure, feels like walking out on a child in my head Tan Speaks................ 692773407

I don't know gents, this is a little too much for me to take. I guessed it was no coincidence ededthat the word CITY was omitted from those scarfs last week. Now this has come out i'm more than a little perturbed!
This should be the best time ever to be a City fan but the fact is it's not. The team and manager have been superb but there has been a big cloud of suspicion hanging over the club since this whole rebrand episode. The atmosphere in the ground has been weird and the fact is us normal fans will soon be priced out of the sport.

But lads (and Kate1), this is still Cardiff! It's a team that plays in Cardiff and is simply a more successful evolution of the same team!

Do you think that everything survives but failing to adapt to change? Of course not, that's why my next door neighbour isn't a velociraptor and I don't fly a pterosaur to New York when I go on holiday. If you don't change, you die. Football is as much a business as it is a hobby.

If we don't accept the change we should be prepared for the consequences, which are the end of the club completely. Cardiff will not survive if Tan walks.

We only have a reason to protest if the club left Cardiff.

^^^^THIS^^^^

It's not just the changes he wants to make that is troubling me but his total disregard for the people who view this club as more than just a business or even a football team.

Cardiff CITY is a way of life for me like Rochdale, Liverpool is to a lot of their fans. It's not something i can watch on sky while i have a pint but something i (and many others) have invested a lot of money, time and emotion into. To me football is just another part of society that is crumbling before us.
