Never been a fan of having to spend a fortune every year on a PC just so it can play the newest games, and even then not be sure whether it will even work. Much better just to buy a console and know for the next nearly ten years now for the current generation that any game you buy for it definetely will work. Ill grant you graphics divide gets bigger the older the console gets but the reality is as long as I can see enough to get by i really don't give a crap - it's still better than buying the game only to realise you need to fork out hundreds on a new graphics card as well.

In terms of credibility Zavvi have shot themselves in the foot by sticking with 30th April 2012 release date - despite the fact rock star announced on its official website over a week ago it's not coming out until the 17th of September at least. Either they don't do their research or they're trying to hoodwink people into paying out for early preorders.

PC gaming is much cheaper in the long run than console gaming. Also you don't need to upgrade every year. My current GPU is just under 3 years old and still plays most games on max.

I won't even think about getting the next gen console. I will buy a cheaper GPU out that year that will already leave the consoles outdated. GTA 5 PC release looks likely 692773407 GTA 5 PC release looks likely 692773407

Xbox's and PS3's cost more in the long run and there is a reason. Its because they are purposely made easy to use for the casual gamer. Pop in a disc, it plays. Pop in a controller, it works. Its as simple as that. Its why the iPad is expensive because its n00b friendly and the interface has been designed with that in mind.

PC gaming, if you don't know what you are doing, a lot can go wrong. However, if you do its must cheaper in the long run. I'll upgrade in the next few years most likely and have brand new graphics, mods available and much cheaper or free games etc.

I could never go back to console gaming. I don't want to pay more for less. Also people need to bare in mind the number of free games online that you can play like League of Legends etc that come out now and then and are not available for consoles.

Having a good GPU ready for them games is great. http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2013-01/23/elder-scrolls-online-beta

If you are a casual gamer then of course go for a console but I have over 200 games in my Steam library plus games on Origin. GTA 5 PC release looks likely 692773407

I fail to see how it's cheaper, simply becuse you seemed to indicate three years was impressive for a GPU to last. The current console generation has been going for nearly three times that long, and an Xbox is only slightly more expensive than a state of the art graphics card. And apparently, lasts three times longer.

I never said that three years was impressive for a GPU to last. I said its almost 3 years old and still playing games on max, settlings that far surpass that of a console. In the next few years it will still play games on medium/high. Console gaming has held PC gaming back because most PC games that are released on console also are ports.

Why do you think you have to upgrade so frequently? The only people who do this are the ones who want the latest thing. A GPU from years down the line will still outperform a PS3/Xbox in terms of quality.

As for cheaper, it is in long term costs. Initial costs the PC is of course more expensive but then I don't have to pay for online passes, games are cheaper due to not having to pay the extra for licensing, there are free games available, I don't have to pay for Xbox Live, I am not tied in by hardware restrictions, etc.

Far Cry 3 on max settings still on the 570, my card. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIvJIsNhZ3I

I guess it depends on what you play and how much you play. All I know is console gaming was far more expensive for me and since I've come to PC gaming I have spent nowhere near as much yet still have a huge catalogue of games that run better.

If anything, the length of the console generation has extended the life of most GPU's.
