Great TV again from Gervais. Not often I get a tear in my eye over TV but thought it was spot on last night.

I think it's genuinely superb. Heartwarming and funny. Seriously rivals The Office and I loved that. Kudos to the casting as well.

Never seen it, am mildly tempted but my only hesitation is that gervais is such a knob.

I like him but understand he's like marmite but you have to admit he makes great TV.

Oh nfqaft! The Office is still one of my all time favourite comedys...as is the 2nd series of extras, the Warrick Davies series and idiot abroad!
But why does he have to be so arrogant...just bugs the hell out of me.

Only one way to find out Rhys, give it a go. Watch the pilot episode first though. If you liked Karl Pilkington in An Idiot Abroad then you'll love him in Derek.

Ricky Gervais isn't arrogant, far from it, he's a very nice chap. All the arrogance is just an act.
I like Derek, I don't think it's his best work but it's still head and shoulders above most of the mindless dross on the telly.

Have you seen any of his stand up? He's the most arrogant and egotistical comic on TV imo

Ahh, maybe I just don't like his sense of humour, personal preference I guess. The strange thing is, I love all his TV work, just not him.

I dont know what to make of it. they try and make it like a documentary, then it turns into a drama with music playing. i dunno, i just didnt laugh at it.
