Consider this scenario -
Not including Lappin (who is a free agent therefore not affected by the deadline), you have time to buy one player. Has to be reasonable (Not Messi, basically), but price is irrelevant. Who would you sign and why?

Austin as he will do a great job of scoring goals this year and has premiership potential... he'll be on the journey with us

A week short of his 29th birthday i think he still has a few more successful Premiership seasons left in him. Even if the deal was a loan now with a permanent contract agreed if we get promoted i think it would be a good deal.
With almost 250 appearances in the top tier and a good goalscoring record i think he is just the kind of player needed in that first year of playing Premiership football. More immediately with the right attitude to dropping down he would rip this division apart between now and the end of the season and pretty much assure us going up.
