Spent over 5 hours in the cinema yesterday only interrupted by a decent lunch and a couple of bottles of wine Django unchained typical Tarantino fodder but really enjoyed it... Samuel L Jackson was an absolute OTT scene stealer and Christoph Waltz as Dr Schultz was great throughout...
Les Miserables was much better than I thought... Next to no dialogue, it was all 'sung' (see Russell Crowe comment below)... Anne Hathaway was stunning sobbed and spat her songs out as much as sung them... Though she does have a great voice... Russell Crowe sounded really, really, really terrible... Hugh Jackman also murdered one of the few songs I knew.... At the end spontaneous applause and lots of geezers crying... Not me though... I was sobbing like a baby

That's a fair assessment of Django. I'm not a fan of Tarantino at all but thought it was mildly entertaining hokum, but essentially, hokum it was. Mrs Arkay kept squirming at all the blood splattering at the screen and very much DID NOT LIKE the dog bit. Christopher Waltz and the posse-hoods scene were definite highlights though.
I normally don't fancy musicals at all but Les Mis is starting to appeal not least because of the way it was all recorded. I have a vested interest in such dark arts, so might just bite the bullet on that one. After Django, figure it could score me some brownie points (no pun intended) with Mrs Arkay too.

I went to see Le Mis as part of the plea bargaining to see Django... Not seen this in the theatre... I took my daughter to see loads of musicals as a good Dad would but found that by in large they were great fun... I loved some of the jukebox musicals like We Will Rock You, Million Dollar Quartet, Sailing, Never Forget, Return to the Forbidden Planet and Rat Pack Live as they were fantastic nights out... Spamalot and The Producers we're really funny and shows like West Side Story, Tommy, Lion King, Beauty, Little Shop of Horrors, Beauty and the Beast and Joseph were brilliant in their own right...
Now for Book of Mormon by the South Park Guys... Should be great
I also saw Ducktastic the Musical in Newcastle.. Directed by Kenneth Branagh.. Embarrassingly shite

You do great and brave service to men everywhere. I've steadfastedly refused to go to musical shows point blank to Mrs Arkay, but it has cost me dearly in the long run when I suggest we should definitely take in a City game when we stop by Arkay Snr's house. For the future of Cardiff City, a compromise must be sought - anybody know Kofi Annan's number?

I take the bullet for right thinking men everywhere.... My shame is The Rocky Horror Picture Show has been a favourite that I can't blame on m daughter... I've seen it with Ade Edmondson, Tim McKinnery, Adrian Head, one of the McGann brothers ( not wanting to sound racist but all English fellas look the same to me ) and Craig Ferguson ( American chat show superstar) amongst others...
And unless you've seen Blood Brothers you've never truly lived
