Daily Mail reporting Celtic may be in for Austin. I'm still holding out for a Malky 'Captain Fistipump' Mackay swoop which will take everyone by surprise... Including Charlie Austin when he comes around groggy and smelling of chloroform in the boot of Wayne Nash's Ford Focus

I don't mean to disrespect Celtic, but a striker like Austin leaving for the SPL would me a massive waste of potential. I fully expect him to be in the premiership by next season at this rate if he waits.

If Celtic do make a bid it will make things interesting. Force the hand maybe of any Premiership club interested in him - as long as they think the Celtic bid might be accepted.

I was under the impression that Celtic had less disposable cash available than City as a lot of the Champions League money serviced various debts and transfer fee instalments on other players they have signed.
If they bid for Austin now they are unlikely to have the money to compete with any other Prem club (or City) so I would imagine they would wait until the summer when they will offload Victor Wanyama for around £15million.

Seriously a backward step for Charlie.
