I'm going to Berlin for a 5 day break on Friday to celebrate this on Sunday....
I've never been to Berlin before and it's supposed to be a really cool city...
Anyone else been?
I'm looking for recommendations for things to do, places to see, restaurants, bars etc.
Ever so slightly gutted though as I'll be missing the Ipswich game

The last time I went was when we were liberating Europe.
Yeah it is supposed to be a great place to live. Get on trip advisor? Never fails for me?

I went there in 1991 just after the Wall came down.
It was a football tour but there was a foot of snow so our matches were called off.
Drank a shed full of the local Berliner beer by way of consolation.
I'm not sure if these are on your itinerary:
1. Getting arrested by the British Military Police
2. Having a 20-a-side snowball fight with some Danish students
3. Getting kicked out of your hotel
4. Laughing as your mate retrieves his coat from a nightclub cloakroom to find a turd in one of the pockets

Sounds like an interesting lads trip... A rollicking good japefest... Those were the days
Can you book a turd in your coat pocket through TopTable?
I freakin' love Berlin!
Mind you, I like my WWII history.
Visit:
The Reichstag
Brandenburg Gate
Holocaust Memorial & Museum
SS Headquarters
Checkpoint Charlie
(they're all within walking distance of each other, although the latter is a bit farther away)
I went there in 2006 and there were loads of new complexes and buildings going up, so I expect the modern part of the City will be quite developed now.
Afraid I can't remember any of the bars I went to (for obvious reasons) but the great thing if you're on a budget is that they have sausage stalls (that sell beer) everywhere. So, you can eat really cheaply and they are delicious.
GET SOME GERMAN SAUSAGE IN YOU TRASH!

My reputation is already in tatters on this board without a photograph finding its way onto the forum of me swallowing a colossal knackwurst

Strange suggestion but I was there last autumn and one of the best places we went was a fried chicken place. I'd love to have some of that now. Cheap beer too.

Where's the Judith Chalmers style update then?
Are there still 'looky-looky' blokes selling fragments of the Berlin Wall?
I bet if all the 'alleged' bits were stuck back together there would be enough for something the size of The Great Wall of China.

Berlin was epic... Like I described in a previous post like Blade Runner would've looked like if Ridley Scott had filmed it in Gilfach Goch... Food was stunning, racked up several Michelin stars... Currywurst was.. err.. Currywurst... Hotel opposite the Intercontinental which I know is one of your favourites... Room overlooking Berlin zoo... Unfortunately we could see the Bonobo monkeys from our room... w@nkers the lot of them... I bought a piece of the wall and was surprised to see it was artexed... Unbelievably over 100,000 construction sites.. Holes everywhere... but enough of he red light district... unfeckingbelfekingievafeckingably freezing

I'm on my way to the Ambassador's Health Suite on City Road, Cyncoed Slumdog always says to my mum they give great sports massages. I'll let everyone know all about it when I get back.

Was this before Arkay's suggestion that you get some German sausage in you?
