Don't normally get my gob in gear for an Indian but intend to go for one on the weekend... Any recommendations?

Depends on price. Kasturi down Crwys Road is cheap and good food, because they don't have an alcohol licence, so you take your own. You have to book though as it gets very busy. If you want to splash the cash, the Mint and Mustard up the road on Whitchurch Road is the place to go

Cheers Slumdog... Yes I was thinking of Mint and Mustard... Not heard a bad word... Been to the Purple Poppadom which is supposed to be similar and that was OK

Might want to book early mind, places tend to be busy at the moment on the weekend! I think the Head Chef left the Mint and Mustard to start the Purple Poppadom. But the Mint and Mustard won a Bib Gourmand last year which is one below a Michelin Star. Not bad going

Man we're going to have to start a what does Slumdog's Son do for a living thread... Which I would expect your Dad to win
I try to get in as much fine dining as my wallet will allow but for purely personal, not professional, reasons... Done well this year so far with some cracking restaurants like The Ledbury, Petrus, Purnells and Galvin LaChappelle amongst others in the UK. We've also got to go to some decent restaurants on the continent as well.

Some impressive places in that list! I'm not to sure of anywhere outside of Leeds and South Wales.
And no, my dad probably wouldn't get it. He's knocking on now, a bit senile...

Not eaten in Leeds... Wales is getting better and The Crown in Whitebrook, The Walnut Tree, The Foxhunter, The Hardwick, 1861 and The Bell in Skenfrith are always worth a visit... Cardiff is a bit of a wasteland but I do like Pier 64, Woods and Patagonia so it'd be good if you have any recommendations

You're right, aside from those mentioned and the Beech Tree Inn at Culverhouse Cross (it's got a Bib Gourmand as well) Cardiff is pretty quiet. I'm going to Pier 64 next weekend, is it worthwhile?
I had hoped that with Cardiff's boom over the last ten years we might have seen some really top restaurants, but alas, no. Michelin hasn't reached us yet!

Pier 64 do great steaks but all the sides are extra so it's easy to rack up a large bill without trying to hard... Some good french dishes as well.. it's run by one of the guys who ran Le Gallois which was one of my favourites... He was mates with Guy Savoy who is a pretty mean chef... Also in Pontcanna you gotta give a nod to Bully's... The guy who runs that is a proper gastronaut

Patagonia looked like it had closed down when I walked past it recently.
Really disappointed with Bully's; maybe I went there on an off-day but I was underwhelmed TBH.
