Couldnt believe what I was seeing Rudy Gestede was favored by Malky over our 1.5 mil striker Velikonja.

Is this guy ever going to get a game.

Velikonja and Kim are for the future. I think Malky felt Gestede could do some donkey work to free Helguson up to concentrate on scoring, normally Helguson is doing that for someone else. Good to see Heidar finally score a few.

I understand that Velikonja and Kim are for the future but 4 mil between them is a large chunk of Malky's promotion budget to spend on 2 players that are for the coming seasons.

Would anyone spend nearly half your budget on 2 players that are for the coming season when your target is promotion this season and your jobs on the line.?

Well perhaps they aren't part of the budget. The board might have made extra funds available to get two quality players in to help the future of the club. The players we have (excluding those two) are enough to get the job done.

And it's early to say Malky's job is on the line, I think the board are fairly happy with him at the moment and I'm sure they had faith in his decisions pre-season as well.

I have to say that I am a fan of Gestede.
Malky seems insistent that his team should play the long ball into the box.


That being the case, we need someone who is excellent at winning balls in the air - something that Rudy is very good at( and will improve on as he plays more)

Other thoughts on today - Mason was excellent and hardly put a foot wrong and I don't remember him giving the ball away.

Whittingham was sitting far too deep for me and I would have liked to have seen Gunnarsson playing the role instead and have Whitts playing the forward role.
