I'm sure Cowie will be on the bench. He will find his chances limited now to substitutions, cup games, and covering for injuries. That quality on the bench is the difference this season. We can now bring on the likes of Cowie and Conway rather than Taiwo and Blake.
As much as I like his work rate, he only should be getting a place on the bench pressing Gunnar to keep form.Happy Days wrote:I'm sure Cowie will be on the bench. I'd Like him lower in the order than even that. If we play a 4-4-2 style formation out central midfield should be Whitts and Mutch in my opinion, with the backup being Gunnarrson and Smith (Whitts and Smith I'd like to see more advanced than the other midfielder). Cowie then basically shouldn't emerge unless there's a minor injury crisis.
However, honestly I do fear a better question is WHERE will Cowie play, not will he. Malky does like his Scots.

As good as Cowie was for us last season I really don't see him as a first choice in any position with the strength of the current squad. Now that he's clearly accepted that we needed a speedy winger and a proven goal scorer at Championship level, then his tactics and selection policy must have changed. If it hasn't, we as a club and Malky are deep trouble.
