Something doesn't seem right here, it's almost as if there is an alterior motive to get him sent off to Sweden asap

No idea why Ecuador have granted him asylum, for two reasons:
1) Ecuador has a trade deal with the USA worth millions and it's up for renewal in January
2) He can't get from the embassy to the airport to get there in the first place

Of course I have. But I've also watched Batman Begins. Doesn't mean the League of Shadows and Ra's al Gul will break him out...!

I am a fan of WikiLeaks.
People deserve to know the truth and politicians should not be solely the ones to tell us what is bad and good for us to know. As human beings we should be able to make a choice on such issues.
The governments are only worried because they fear being further exposed and they feel undermined by such an organisation. When WikiLeaks was booming they felt powerless to stop this ever growing outlet of freedom of speech.
Its the same with piracy. When the government feels it has lost control it will act in the most dictating way to try and regain it.
The hacking by newspaper tabloids if far worse than anything WikiLeaks has ever done.

What makes me laugh is that the US government ask for everyone to be extradited to them. You never see anyone go the other way though!
I understand that it's wrong to endanger soldiers lives so on that point he's made a mistake. But maybe some of that information should have been in the public domain anyway.

Fair play to the Ecuadorians on this, it would have been far easier diplomatically for them to have not granted him asylum, good to see them standing up to the obvious bullying tactics of the US government. Asange will definately end up being extradited to the US from Sweden and end up being incarcerated without charge for god knows how long.

I think what he's being charged with in Sweden amounts to two counts of rape.

The whole case is dodgy. Some are saying he's been set up because they had nothing on him otherwise.

Apparently the only law he has broken is one requiring him to wear a condom. There is no question of him having had anything but consentual sex. It's about him not having worn a condom. That is why we're spending all this money to get him extradited.
