We need to be more attacking at home in my opinion. Only one defensive midfielder who can also control the ball is needed. Being too defensive at home has turned too many wins into draws in the past. We should then revert to a 4-5-1 when we have a 2 goal cushion.

The great thing about those 3 in the midfield is that they have/can all play in that deep lying role. Mutch and Gunnarsson are both great holding midfielders as well as box-to-box but Whitts can also play the deep lying play-maker role and this allows for a lot more roaming between the midfielders so we can have different options going forward.

Midfield is going to be difficult to predict next season personally i would love to see Cowie, Whitts & Gunnarson in central midfield with Kim Bo Yung Bellamy and Helgusson up front and back 4 of Super kev, Turner Hudson & Taylor with Marshall in goal. Those players could easily revert to 4 5 1 but we need to go at it at home so 4 3 3 for me.
With Mason & Etien attacking options on the bench and Mutch, Conway and Ralls to offer us midfield options. Darcy offers us cover along the back 4 but we still need to get in a centre half with pace.
Be interesting to see what Malky does

Our attack is a headache to decide without being there on the training ground with Malky. For example Kim on the right seems obvious but likewise the form Conway is in he could well be the best man. In a 4-3-3 with wingers a target man is the best option so Helguson is quite rightly the obvious choice, but Etien is already hinting at being really menacing and it would be unfair to leave him on the bench. Mason the same, too good to be only a sub.
Your set-up makes the most sense though, on paper. Etien would then be my preferable sub as his pace could give tired defences a nightmare. Unfortunately, that'd leave Mason as a rotation, but I'd put on the table the possibility of him taking an attacking midfield role (shared with Whitts).
Or, alternatively, we give up on defence entirely, drop our full backs and play all three strikers in a 2-5-3, then hope we score 5 or 6 goals a game

I'd like to see us play 4-2-3-1. From what ive seen of our players I would go with:
Marshall
Kev Hudson turner Taylor
--- Gunnarson Mutch----
Kim ---- Whitts ----- Conway/Bellamy
--------- Helguson
Not seen Etien play before so can't include him. As back up we have Mason, kiss, Cowie, ralls, earnie, rudy and I have probably missed a few. 1 more at the back and we are ready to go
