This is probably a strange question for me to ask considering I work in the medical field, but hey. I've seen a cracked rib in a clinical situation and know all the signs and symptoms, but since I've never actually done it I don't really know what it feels like.
I'll fill you in. Having a kickabout in the garden yesterday (with the dogs admittedly) I attempted a hard lobbed ball and on contact my foot slipped straight under the ball. Because I was on a step at the time, my body weight and momentum send me crashing backwards onto the lip of said step. It hurt like hell quite obviously, but I got straight up and what struck me first was the worst winded state I've ever encountered. Couldn't breathe at all, had to sit back down as I was going faint from the lack of oxygen. Eventually i got a breath through and about a half hour later I was back to a kind of regular rhythm.
I say near because my breathing is still a bit irregular, and if for example i talk too much I lose my ability to breathe again for a couple of cycles. Most movements hurt, very difficult to find a lying position that isn't painful, all of that.
As I said I know I'm displaying a lot of symptoms that I've cracked a rib, and I definetely hit the step hard enough to warrant such a thing. It'd only be minor really if ithas happened, so I'm not massively concerned either way. So has anyone else definetely cracked a rib and share their opinion on how it was with me?

A will if it gets any worse.
This sort of things makes me feel like a massive Hippocrite when critiscised someone like Rudy Gestede for being injured all the time. I run in the mornings and in the last month my injuries amount to pulling both calf muscles, twisting one ankle, straining a neck muscle (twice) and now this. Football fans across the world should be lucky I'm not good enough to turn pro and sign, because I'd spend most my time sat in the stands injured.

Sounds like it's cracked. I believe it's six to eight weeks before it gets better and there's nothing the medical profession can do other than administer pain killers.
